Curvy fashion: flattering fabrics

There are an infinite number of bodies, each with its own shape. The fashion world highlights five types of silhouette: pear, hourglass, triangle, apple or rectangular. No matter what shape our body is, we must not give up on style and elegance.

Knowing our body

Although it is nothing new, we want to emphasize this point, as it is the only way to feel comfortable, while knowing our attributes and enhance them, and take a back seat to those aspects that we like less.

That's the key for everyone, whatever your body or size: to feel comfortable with our outfit, comfortable with our body.

Keys of curvy fashion curvy

This fashion or movement does not aim to "hide" bodies, but the opposite: to enhance, highlight and stylize the curves of the body. Feeling comfortable with our body is not incompatible with concealing the parts we don't like while enhancing the parts we do like.

In fact, moda curvy curvy fashion means having curves, and it doesn't necessarily mean wearing plus-size clothes.

Basic tips for styling while masking less comfortable parts of your body:

  • Well-being above all else: Even if you see curvy or plus size curvy or plus size models wearing tight or short clothes, if that's not your style or you feel uncomfortable, don't force yourself to wear them.
  • The right cut and size: wanting to hide your tummy or arms doesn't mean hiding in layers of clothes, that's not the solution. We should wear the right size, a pattern that flatters us and/or certain prints and colours.
  • Emphasise your favourite part:What aspects of your figure do you like best? Waist, calves, cleavage? You have the answer yourself: choose clothes and accessories to show off those parts with pride.
  • Classics that will disappoint: if you discover a flattering size or style, expand your wardrobe with these clothes! Of course, don't give up on trying new things, but if something works for you and you feel comfortable in it, why give up?

Tips and fabrics for the curvy woman curvy

As we have said, the best thing to do is to wear the fabrics and outfits that make us feel most comfortable. However, we do have some tips.

Go for styles that define your silhouette without being too tight. A midi or midi knee-length cut is also preferable, as well as avoiding pleats and rigid fabrics that give volume.

Plain or printed?

To enhance our curves, nothing better than a plain fabric or a small or discreet print.

Así mismo, las Vertical stripes , so fashionable this season, are also a good ally. It is a print that visually stylises by reducing the volume or lengthening the body.

Finally, we must take into consideration the colours that suit us best, if you want to enhance your eyes, your smile or, in short, your beauty.

We will discard large, very flashy or saturated prints, as they add more volume. We will also avoid light colours in the areas to be concealed.

Trousers

With this garment there is no room for doubt: jeans. A garment made of a rigid material, although slightly elastic, that will mould us to perfection.

Another option is the "paper bag" cut: a sophisticated way to enhance the waist and highlight the curves in a sophisticated way.

In this case, as it's summer, we'll opt for linen or cotton. A rigid fabric that gives shape to the trousers, that will hold the gathering and that is cool.

Skirts

Flared cut: It is ideal if what you want is to blur the hip-hip-thigh area.

For this skirt we will opt for a satin crepe, like our ADINA, reference: 01147. A firm fabric to shape, but at the same time with movement, ideal for this type of skirt.

Other options are pencil skirt or knee-length pencil skirt , as they are usually made with elastic fabrics or rigid fabrics , which help to shape the figure. This look can be accompanied with a sweater or loose-fitting blouse, to compensate volumes.

In this case we will opt for a stretch cotton in summer: model MADISON, reference 00121. Or a neoprene in winter: model NEOPRENO, reference 02442. . Rigid and elastic fabrics with which to shape and reduce.

It is important NOT to hide the body in oversizeoversize cuts, as they blur the figure.

Wrap cut

Whether in blouse, skirt or dress. And with the exception of large prints (because they give more volume), it is a cut that fits both in plain and small prints.

In this case we will choose our model DAMA, reference: 02291. A drapey fabric to make this kind of dresses.

Lingerie style

Its drape is very flattering, whether for shirts, T-shirts or dresses.

That's why we opted for a satin fabric, to give this lingerie touch, and with a lot of fall. And nothing better than our satin SORAYA, reference 00138..

V-neck or boat neckline

It is ideal for girls who have a lot of chest, as it will give a very nice shape in this area, shaping it.

In this case, we will go for a knit in summer: model OLVERA, reference 03500. And in winter, a two-sided knit in neoprene and peach skin : model LANAI, reference 03542..

If what we want is to visually reduce the chest, we will discard thick knitted fabrics or turtleneck jumpers.

Sleeves

La 3/4 sleeve is a good strategy if we want to conceal the arm. However, we understand that this size cannot be worn all year round.

To get this shirt, we can opt for a cotton. A comfortable and cool fabric, but at the same time rigid.
